Merrionette Park came together fast. Developer Joseph E. Merrion put up the community’s first homes — roughly 125 of them — starting in 1940 on farmland between 113th and 115th Streets and Kedzie and Whipple Avenues. Merrion — the same developer whose name is on projects across the Southland — built the original homes here starting in 1940, and in late 1946 residents voted to name the community after him. Rather than wait on anyone else for services, they incorporated as a village on February 18, 1947, formed a police department the same year, and organized the Merrionette Park Volunteer Fire Department by ordinance in May 1949. When E.T. Mahoney’s 339 additional homes went up in 1952, the village’s footprint was essentially set: the population peaked at 2,354 in 1960 and has held near 2,000 ever since, while the 1980s brought the water tower and the Jewel-Osco-anchored Stonebrook Plaza that still marks the commercial corner of 115th and Kedzie today.

That compressed, two-builder build-out is exactly what shapes HVAC work here.
