Replaced Water Source Heat Pump – South Loop, Chicago

Service Pro Titans recently replaced a water source heat pump in a high-rise condo in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago, IL. The existing unit had reached the end of its service life and no longer operated reliably. Therefore, our technician first inspected the system to confirm the cause of the failure. Electrical readings and operational testing verified that the heat pump required replacement.

Before starting work, power to the unit was safely disconnected. Next, the technician isolated the heat pump from the building’s water loop system. After that, the supply and return water valves were closed to prevent leaks during removal. The old heat pump was then carefully disconnected from the electrical wiring, water lines, and condensate drain.

The defective unit was removed from the wall cavity and prepared for proper disposal. Our team then positioned the new Trane water source heat pump in the same location. It was leveled and secured to ensure stable operation.

Next, the technician reconnected the building’s supply and return water lines. In addition, all fittings were tightened and inspected to prevent leaks. The electrical wiring was then reconnected according to manufacturer specifications and local Chicago building codes.

After installation was complete, power was restored to the system. The heat pump was started and tested in both heating and cooling modes. Water flow, refrigerant performance, and electrical readings were carefully monitored.

Finally, airflow was checked to confirm proper circulation throughout the condo. The thermostat was calibrated to ensure accurate temperature control. The system provides reliable heating and cooling for the homeowner year-round in downtown Chicago.
